SingleRoots Guest Post
If you know me and my friends, you know that we do love a good blog! This past January, I was introduced to a blog that I literally fell in love with. The greatest thing about it? It's more than just a blog - it's a community. And y'all know how much I love community. I've been so blessed over the posts I read each day from this group of awesome believers! I've been encouraged and strengthened. I've laughed, and I've cried. Most importantly, I've been challenged in my faith. I've done a lot of inward thinking and processing, and I've gown so much from this little community. It's called SingleRoots, and you should check it out. I promise it will bless you!
Today, I'm honored to share a guest post over at SingleRoots. It's a little story about a time when I was confused and angry at God... and how that experience completely changed my perspective on Him. You can read it here.

Living Room Goodness and Amazing Chair Reveal!
Well, folks... here's my living room
furniture and a few design elements I'm incorporating. I can not WAIT to
get it all finished! I have it in my head, I know where I'm going
with it, and I think it's going to be beautiful! So excited!
|
The chair I found, dreamed about,
and finally OWN! Yay! Totally me: Classic yet modern... funky and chic! It is the original inspiration for the whole room... |
| My sofa! Excuse the pillows. They will be recovered! : ) I'm not a fan of the gray and green and blue stripes. : ) |
If you know me at all, you know how much I love my Four Seasons! They are a group of girls that I met and became super close to in my M.Ed. program. We have a really neat, lasting bond of friendship!
Well.... this sofa is a Four Seasons sofa.... like for real! That's the brand! I saw it paired with the chair originally, and I knew I liked the whole slip-covered, white, Pottery Barn look. So I started searching for those kinds of sofas. I kept coming back to this one in my head... before I knew it was Four Seasons. That little tidbit of information sold me for sure! Haha! I really am excited about it...
Each piece is slip-covered individually, which helps ease my fears of ruining a white sofa. And the fabric protection plan I bought will send someone to treat and clean any piece I get dirty for the first five years! Maybe I'll be safe! : )

| The AWESOME wood/burlap lamps I found at TJ Maxx! These were a STEAL at $29 each! |

| Super cute, CHEAP side table I found at TJ. Pay close attention to the detailing on top. This will be painted the coral color that's in the chair and distressed! |
Stay tuned for updates once I finally move! Haha! : )

Unexpected blessings!
These past few weeks have been BUSY and full of unexpected blessings! The Lord has been goooood to me! I've just got to write them down so I don't forget!!! Much of this won't mean anything to any of y'all, but I want a record of it!!!
1. Community
A week or so ago, I wrote about the scary thought of moving home to Baxley where I was terrified I'd find no sense of community. The Lord definitely showed up and out these past few weeks! I've been visiting Christ Community Church, and I have felt so at home and so welcome. Not to mention how much the Lord is moving in that church! Wooo! It's like I told my sweet Mama, "You can just SEE Jesus in these people. They love Him so much!"
2. Purpose
An opportunity to work with and minister to college students has been presented to me. Praying so very hard about it. I normally fall right into helping with the youth, but I've been a little concerned about being around high schoolers too much - teaching, show choir, etc. I was beginning to pray about a way to plug into ministry when this opportunity presented itself. Praying. I love "students" regardless of age, so this could very well be a good fit for me. (Y'all know I love babies and kids and am really good with them... but working with the little ones is not my calling. Learned that very quickly in Awana a few years ago. Haha!)

3. Great House/Apartment Hunt of 2012
For the longest time, I battled with buying a house or renting a house or renting an apartment. I finally decided that renting would be best. Yes, I
feel like I'm throwing money away, and yes, I'm not ok with that... but
it's the best, most affordable option yet. I made pro/con lists for
renting houses and apartments. I want the space of a house... but not
necessarily the upkeep and higher power bill (I do live in South
Georgia, y'all! It's HOT!). I wanted to save money in an attempt to become debt-free (yay Dave Ramsey!), and I decided to scale-down to a smaller apartment. The one catch? The one available had no dishwasher. Now, I know that's not monumental, but it hurt my feelings nonetheless. Once I finally settled myself into believing that I could make do (somehow!), I called to confirm renting. Low and behold, the same apartment complex had a slightly newer apartment available WITH A DISHWASHER!!!! (And at the same price!) Wooooooo!
4. Furniture
First of all, a sweet, sweet couple from CCC are GIVING me an older, used washer and dryer! YAY! And I'm so thankful that they are blessing me this way. I knew I had to buy living room furniture and a washer/dryer, so this is helping my budget tremendously!
Secondly, I fell in love with an accent chair at a furniture store a few weeks ago. I didn't know where I was going to live, I was still trying to figure out my budget, and I was very unsure about what furniture to buy for my living room. So I waited. Let me just inform you that this chair is a floor sample chair... marked well below the retail price. And I wanted it so badly. Once I decided that I was doing the whole apartment thing, I knew space would be limited. I decided that a chair and sofa would be the best bet for my teeny-tiny living room. I called to inquire about the chair, and it had been SOLD. I almost cried, y'all! I asked the sales associate to find out if it could be ordered, and she said she'd call me back. A few minutes later, she called. I could almost hear the grin in her voice. She told me that the lady that purchased the chair backed out at last minute, and the "sold" tag had never been removed! YAY! So, I put a down-payment on that bad boy over the phone. I drove over to Valdosta this weekend and paid for it and a sofa that coordinates with it! Can't wait to show y'all some pictures! : )
Needless to say, I am feeling very loved on these past few days. Thankful that the Lord is helping me make this transition so much more smoothly than I ever could! : )
