Why I love Tuesdays... and other random ramblings...

Why do I love Tuesdays?

#1 - Ok, so the most obvious reason that I can't ignore - they aren't Mondays!  HELLO!  : )  Can I get a witness?!?!?!  (Unless of course the previous Monday was a holiday in which Tuesday actually IS a Monday... or at least in my book!)

#2 - It's New Music Tuesday on iTunes!  And do you know what New Music Tuesday on iTunes has entailed these past few weeks???  Why, my feverish race to download the latest single from Lady Antebellum during "Countdown to Lady Antebellum's Need You Now" cd release, of course!  I love me some Lady A... it's just "feel good" music!  Love it!  Aaaaannnndddddd... guess when the whole album's available for purchase?  Next Tuesday!  Yippeeeeeee!

While on the topic of music, let me just tell you that music is my LIFE.  I love it!  It speaks to me.  Seriously.  It's such an important part of who I am.  And one thing that I love the most is finding new artists to love.  For example...

Earlier today, I was catching up on the t.v. shows that I recorded last night.  I watched One Tree Hill (yes, I know... guilty pleasure for sure!), and I was blown away by the character Haley James Scott's new music.  I especially loved her cover of Pat Benatar's "We Belong."  So great!  Gotta love 80s music!    One of my favorite things about the CW's t.v. shows is that they are committed to showcasing new artists... and then supplying their viewers with artist information.  At the end of all (or at least some) of their shows is a little blurb on "music featured on tonight's episode of     (fill in the blank with the name of your favorite CW t.v. show)     " where the play an audio clip of the song and share the artist and album info.  Love it!  So, back to last night's episode of OTH.  At the end of the show, one of the artists/groups mentioned was Everly... but they were singing the song that HJS sang on the show that night.  Now, HJS is played by Bethany Joy Galeotti... a super talented actress and musician.  So, I was like "Hmmmmm.... wonder if good 'ole Bethany Joy is frontlining in a new band now..."  So of course I did some digging... and I found out that in fact, she is.  Bethany Joy Galeotti and Amber Sweeney (formerly of the band Enation which also happens to be BJG's husband's band) have joined forces to create the group Everly.   Yay!!!  So, of course what do I do?  Run right on over to the iTunes store and download a few of their EPs and singles!  Exciting!!!  And now I'm the proud owner of Everly's Benatar cover... and few other awesome original songs!

So, tonight is also a good night because it's American Idol night!  (And the auditions are super funny!)Yay!  I love, love, love American Idol... even though it does depend on how the season shapes up as to how addicted I become to the show.  For example... watched Seasons 5, 6, and 7 all the way through... I mean, come one... Carly Smithson, Chris Daughtrey, Kellie Pickler, Mandisa, Gina Glocksen, Chris Sligh, Katherine McPhee, Melinda Doolittle... and you can give me Michael Johns any day of the week, please and thank you!  ; )  But Season 8 not so much! Just didn't like it... so, we shall see what Season 9 holds for us!

Recent news, highlights, and things that make me happy...

  1. Yesterday and today were absoulutely GORGEOUS days!!!  (I can't speak for Sunday as I was cooped up in bed all day, sick as a dog!)  Man, the weather has been PERFECT!  I love, love, LOVE weather in the 60s and 70s!  Let me just tell you... I wore a t-shirt and flip-flops yesterday AND today!  Yippeeee!
  2. I drank orange juice (Simply Orange - Grove Style with High Pulp!  Yum!) from a Mason jar yesterday, and I don't think I've ever felt more country!  Haha!  But man, it was good!
  3. I got a library card (or really just updated my account) last week, and I have been reading some great, quality books!  Bring on all the Jodi Picoult, James Patterson, Nicholas Sparks, and Dorothea Benton Frank you can possibly stand!  Ok, well... maybe that's not what some would call "real literature," but I love it!  I am looking forward to a few modern classics that I've got coming to me on their inter-library loan program.  And I'm excited about reading more non-fiction - autobiographies, collections of essays, etc.  I think it's safe to say that I am now completely obsessed with the library.  I think I've been three times in less than a week!  : )
  4. Did I mention that I wore flip-flops today?!?!?!  ; )
  5. My high school's show choir is hosting a show choir festival this Saturday, and I am PUMPED about seeing some other show choirs from around the state!  Show Choir was my LIFE when I was in high school, and I'm excited about reminiscing with some of my old friends and directors!
Ok, I think there was more that I was going to write... but I'm tired.  And I have the last ten minutes of AI to finish watching....
